Today, a friend and I went to Gamestop to pick up a game he wanted. I ended up buying a 17+ game, and I was prepared to show my license, but he stopped me an said, "I know you're 18". He then said, "Man, I've pretty much watched you grow up in this store." A game salesman watched me grow up. FML

OP here. It's a FML to me because, I'm not ashamed of being a gamer, I feel that it's just a pretty dorky situation. I totally was caught off guard when the site gave this entry the green light. I just thought it would be funny to share. A bit of background though, #155 is completely right, it's only been like 4 years.

That's more of FHL. He's been working at a game store for all those years. Atleast you had an excuse, you liked playing video games. Not all kids are into going out and playing sports etc.

i don't gets whats bad about that... so the guy who works at the store knows you, it's a mark of a good salesperson

how did this even get on here its not funny nor and fml kinda creepy but not horrible at all!

F both your life - You go there so often the sales reps know you and he's been working there since you were little.

this is no FML, you're just every guy I know

Concept - You're right and its REALLY sad. Not all kids are "into going out and playing sports" but who said you have to "play sports" to be outside, or at least out of the house, more often than not, and enjoy LIFE itself. I dont play any sports but I sure as hell don't sit in front of a computer system. I've watched my brother lose a lot of years to a video game. Hes finally coming toa point where he is learning that he can have a productive active life and still enjoy video games without them taking over. Kids today have no concept of socializing. Its all text, IM, email and video games. And socializing over a screen doesn't count. Sorry. They've even done studies to show kids have a harder time in relationships and in the work place, specifically kids who rely on technology, because they can't grasp socialization and personal connections the way the average adult should.

get a life dude, or maybe a girlfriend. wait scratch that no girl would want as excessive as nerd as you

and btw, most kids who say "i dont play sports" just mean I am too lazy to go outside and do something active. sports aren't confined to your conformed sport. There is tons you can do outside that promotes a healthy active lifestyle. You dont like sports but you like animals, so take your animal for a walk. Or really anything outside. This is ALSO why so many "gammers" are so overweight. Laziness takes over and they sit in their chairs and don't bother taking care of themselves.

As they say, "You need to find yourself a girl, mate." edit: Interesting concept. I don't like sports or video games, but I walk to class and so I'm reasonably 'in shape', just not athletic.

Oh, shut up. You should be happy he remembered you after all that time, jesus.

#90: Yeah, really. OP: Seriously? Really, you're going to say that's a FML? It just means you've made an impression on someone working retail in order for them to remember who you are and that you're a common customer. I will assume that you didn't brush him off, or else I have to hate you in principle, being a retail girl-slave myself.

YDI for thinking this is an FML. Nothing wrong with being a gamer for life, and hell, it's ******* expected of dudes to be into games in the first place. I wonder if people that frown on spending one's free time playing games have no problem with sitting on one's ass for hours, watching sports. Or on the female side, spending hours inside stores browsing at whatever. No matter who you are, you find one or two of those to be boring as shit and devote enough time to the other to make yourself a hypocrite by chastising the other two.
