Today, a friend and I went to Gamestop to pick up a game he wanted. I ended up buying a 17+ game, and I was prepared to show my license, but he stopped me an said, "I know you're 18". He then said, "Man, I've pretty much watched you grow up in this store." A game salesman watched me grow up. FML

OP here. It's a FML to me because, I'm not ashamed of being a gamer, I feel that it's just a pretty dorky situation. I totally was caught off guard when the site gave this entry the green light. I just thought it would be funny to share. A bit of background though, #155 is completely right, it's only been like 4 years.

That's more of FHL. He's been working at a game store for all those years. Atleast you had an excuse, you liked playing video games. Not all kids are into going out and playing sports etc.

i don't gets whats bad about that... so the guy who works at the store knows you, it's a mark of a good salesperson

I see where he's coming from, but it's not a total FML. #3, there is nothing wrong with playing video games. #151, your life must be boring if you're coming on FML to tell people their FMLs suck. GTFO scene fag.

Can't decide whether YDI or FYL, this is an amaaazing FML, don't care if it's fake or not, won't even ask.

#59 You don't sound like you're older.

Speaking as someone who has been going to his local gamestop since long before it was a gamestop, I don't see why this is such a big deal tbh. I personally play a lot of videogames, and I also read a lot of books and have an active social life; So who is to say that the OP is any different?

If the OP is 18, it's entirely possible that the salesman was there for less than 6 years. I'd say going from age 12 to 18 counts as growing up. If the salesman started working at Gamestop in high school and went on to college, he'd just be finishing up his degree. If that's the case, there's no real problem with the guy's life. As for the OP, there's nothing wrong with playing video games, as long as one doesn't let them consume one's life. I remember back in high school there was a group of football players who'd spend most of their weekends playing Halo. As long as some kind of balance is maintained, there's no problem. Of course, maintaining such a balance is a task beyond my abilities, but I know it's possible for others.
