Today, a guy I like asked me to a dance. Trying to act modest and at the same time compliment him, I told him, "You could do so much better, though." After thinking for a moment, he replied, "You're right, I could. Never mind," and walked away. FML

That's why we all shouldn't sell ourselves short! Have confidence! :D

Idiot. If you want to seem modest you quietly say ok but I'm not a very good dancer. You deserved it.

You damn sure did it yourself. Next time just say yes and leave out all the other BS

That fired back. Next time be careful XD

Although I don't think you were fishing for compliments, it's possible the guy misunderstood your intention and thought you weren't worth the agro. Ladies, we men are simple creatures; you say something we'll take it at face value. We don't know your secret code for everything.

This is completely your fault. Fishing for compliments is not modest. It makes you seem either conceited, depressingly insecure, or both, depending on how exactly you fish for said compliment. Just say yes next time!

Some guys don't like girls who put themselves down and have no self esteem.
