Today, a man I once worked with passed away. He was a lovely, caring, and inspirational person whom I looked up to. My husband's form of consolation? "Old people die. Get over it." FML

Yes, unfortunately the old die, I hope this great man was able to pass on his experience and intelligence before he passed. Just today I had a discussion about how society seems to be evolving slower socially, because the young refuse to learn from the old.

Perhaps he has already been through a few close losses? I lost several people close to me at a young age and again this year. This time although I cared deeply for them I felt not numb but accepting of it all. Death happens. The only thing you can do about its grieve by remembering the good times you had and moving forward. The first two people I lost were my parents who committed suicide together when I was 18. The only way to healthily deal with loss is to honor them by loving them and channeling that love and honoring their memory by never forgetting them. If he hasn't dealt with loss and numb to the losing of someone then he is just being an ass.
