Today, a man I once worked with passed away. He was a lovely, caring, and inspirational person whom I looked up to. My husband's form of consolation? "Old people die. Get over it." FML

Yes, unfortunately the old die, I hope this great man was able to pass on his experience and intelligence before he passed. Just today I had a discussion about how society seems to be evolving slower socially, because the young refuse to learn from the old.

Yeah doesnt mean he has to be a jerk about it.

Sorry for your loss, OP. Too bad your husband didn't learn from a man like that.

it is true, but he should have said it more nicely

What your husband said may be true but that was not the time to point it out. He's a douche and he's probably jealous of the admiration you have for your coworker. Next thing you know he'll be accusing you of sleeping with the guy. Hang in there, and try not to let the douchebaggery get to you.

Maybe there is something wrong with him. There are people that don't understand the feeling people get when they feel hurt if someone close to them passed away. Maybe he is one of them?

The human brain has trouble dealing with the thought of never existing after this life. Accordingly, everyone reacts to death in their own weird way. Some people grieve, and others become aggressive and mean in an effort to block those thoughts out. FYL, because this is a sensitive time for you and he should have been more supportive, being your husband, but I understand the psychology behind why he said what he did.

It's mean, I admit. But it's kinda funny...

Well im sure this isn't the whole story... Ur husband does have a point though
