Today, a person came into McDonald's, where I work. They ordered a happy meal. As they were an adult, I assumed the meal was for their child, who wasn't with them. When I asked if the toy was for a boy or a girl, they said the toy was for them. I still had to ask if it was for a boy or a girl. FML

Today, I went to McDonald's and ordered a Happy Meal with a girl's toy. The high school girls behind the counter said I was too old to be served one, and I had to go home and explain to my sick daughter why she didn't get her toy. FML

Today, I was minding a 6-year old boy. He begged me to take him somewhere. I rang his mum, and she said I could. He picked to go to McDonald's. He ordered chicken. After his meal, he told me he was vegetarian, and wanted to try some meat while his mum wasn't around. I got the blame. FML

Today, I was at McDonald's and I was going through the drive-thru. As I was driving away, I checked my food and the lady had given me a Night at the Museum Happy Meal toy by mistake. I got so excited that I crashed the car into a pole. I'm 36. FML

Today, while at McDonald's, I saw an 8 year-old girl licking a life-size Ronald McDonald sitting on a bench. Being concerned, I told her mother, who then yelled at me for 10 minutes for being a "paedophile" and "being turned on by an 8 year-old girl." FML

I began smiling and I was about to introduce myself, when he began laughing and said, "It's you! I've heard about you!" He left laughing. I still don't know who he is, or what made him laugh. FML

I hate how they always assume you want a certain kind of toy based on your gender. I may have been a little girl, but I wanted the toy car, not the toy barbie. And guess which one they always gave me. :(

yeah, I work at Mcdicks to, and I get those everynight since I work overnight. not only do they DEMAND a toy, after they order (in drive thru mind you) they drive off like idiots leaving you with a happy meal sitting there molding all night long. you have it easy my friend. Notice you are from ontario too. Ottawa, 4416 Innes Rd.

Wow are all you people seriously too dumb to realize that the person in question seemed gender ambiguous... OP couldn't tell if it was a man or a woman. So after "they" said it was for "them" the OP still didn't know if it was for a girl or boy, and thus had to ask for the person's gender.

It's not that. It's a rule. I work at mcdees and by rules of the establishment if you don't ask you get yelled at by pissy managers. Because it slowly them down.

Hopefully they weren't offended. I know your FML is that you couldn't tell if they were a man or a woman, but a lot of adults collect Happy Meal toys, especially the movie-themed ones, and the cashier needs to know specifically which one they want. It was a reasonable question.

I'm 30 yo f and i still order happy meals or any kids meal at BK or wendys. Sometimes the adults meals are a little much and i often don't finish them. but boy toys are cooler unless it's hello kitty season.
