He's not being stupid or mean. Stupid would be thinking, "Where the heck did this come from? I don't feel that way at all," but going along with it so as not to hurt her feelings. Mean would be dropping her as a friend. She opened up a situation where it was hard for him to give an answer that was both honest and tactful, but it seems like he responded pretty well. Have you ever been in a situation like this? Because I've been on both sides and seen both bad and not-so-bad results. Not so much the good ones though.
good use of the word kiddies....congrats....you may not have your special lover but you do have that
what a sensitive shmuck
I'd say you should be glad that he still there for you in my opinion. I can't blame you for telling him that either to be honest, just hope you don't feel worse after that telling him that. Can't really choose between FYL or YDI myself.
Just be glad he still talks to you. I've been in your situation actually not that long ago and believe me, it hurts like a bitch when not only your feelings are rejected but your friendship as well. You did the right thing telling him though.

It's naive to think he's suddenly also in love with you... You got away pretty good with that reaction actually..
well be glad he didn't hate you for it, I've seen that happen
