Today, after a long couple of months working non-stop, I finally got someone to cover my shift. Turns out she was joking, and when I didn't show up for work, I was fired. FML

What an unfair co worker and boss. Hope you find a better job op!

That's why where I worked, we always had to let our boss know when the shifts were changed.

I hope you let your boss know that your co-worker was supposed to cover the shift. If you didn't let them know, they won't care. Unfortunately that's what happens to many people when you ask them to switch shift, don't tell manager for approval.

did you not tell your boss that she agreed to cover? where I work we text our boss when we switch shifts so its on the other person if they don't show

That's a hate crime right there... Hope she gets the same treatment some day...

At old job I would tell my manger I couldn't work a day & she just tell me to find someone to cover your shift then make a note of it. I tend to ask someone who was working that day so the can verbal agree in front of my manger. If they don't show up its not my problem.

she is the who should have been fired!
