Today, after an extremely hard day at work, I took a hot shower to wind down a little bit. I accidentally splashed a painful amount of hot water and shampoo in my eyes. My left contact is now stuck to my eyeball. FML

Good part is: when you cry, there will be bubbles (:

you're not supposed to wear contacts in the shower.

YDI. You don't wear contacts in the shower... a smart person takes them out. However, you are clearly not one of them. I don't feel sorry for you.

OPs probably never had a doctor tell them to take their contacts out before showering. I've worn them for 7 years and had 3 different eye doctors and not one has ever mentioned taking them out when showering. I always shower with mine and have never had a problem. This fml is the first I've ever heard about it. So OPs not dumb. They (like thousands of other people) were never told by their doctor not to.

I have been wearing contacts almost as long... my dad is an optometrist and he's my optometrist, he's always told me to take them out, they told my dad that in his training. Those are sharp enough to cut your eye. If the contact slips from the water, with soap to top it off, which it could potentially do, cut your eye. Just because you weren't told, doesn't mean you should. It's common sense. You don't wear glasses in the shower... contacts are just a more smaller, physically contacted version, hence the term contact.

Sharp enough to cut your eye? I think you're using a different kind of contact. The ones I use are the softest, most easy to rip things I've ever seen.

look on the bright side its almost like free lasik

Ooooh... Ouch almost had that same problem myself! See the thing with contacts is, you should first of all not shower with them because the shampoo and the steam are bad for it. Second you shouldn't wear contacts for too long because then the tissue of your eye goes over it and you cant take it off! and lastly never EVER sleep with contacts... (just a heads up so you don't make these mistakes) FYL indeed OP.

Umm no. That's not the first thing they tell you. I've had 3 different eye doctors and not a single one has ever told me this. This fml is the first I've ever heard about this.

Atleast you are maybe blind now. YDI op

I hope u typed this fml with it still in your eye Haha

Next tim, get your contacts off before showering. When I first started, I left my contacts in a few times and it was hard to get it off my eyeballs. It happens. You don't really need to see clearly in the shower anyways :P

I do believe you're supposed to take your contacts out before the shower so, YDI. However you said it was an "extremely hard day at work" so I suppose we'll let you slide. But really, good luck getting that thing off your eye. O.o
