Today, after getting back from a year-long world trip, I nearly fell on my knees and cried when I saw boxes of Twinkies at my local gas station. Finding out they were back was the highlight of the year. FML

AwkwardPartyBear tells us more.

I feel that I should have explained a bit further about the trip. A group and I went for charity causes (sort of like a Meals on Wheels world tour donation- just with a group). We could have shipped goods, but as someone said in the group, "it took out the adventure in the purpose". Although, we didn't explore as much as we meant to.. and instead donated/volunteered in different charity events throughout the year in different cities/countries. I'm happy among the fact that we helped the cause, but it was not much of a world-adventure as some FML commenters picture it. But I did buy a shitload of Twinkies and embarrassed myself hugging the boxes while crying rivers in the middle of the gas station.

Damn! That must have been the most boring world trip known to man kind!

You don't have a very interesting life, do you?

I feel bad for all those crazies that bought twinkies on eBay for hundreds of dollars. Did people really think that twinkies wouldn't return to the market? :P

So many preservatives in them, that those that paid big bucks for them still have them...

That was nuts, I just switched to the off brand, now I got some banana Twinkies :O Amazing.

Wow, must have been pretty bad; twinkies are so bland.

My plane left Hawaii to go back to Australia on the day twinkies returned to the shelves! I was pretty devastated, I still havent ever tried one!

Hats off to you OP! I wish more people were as charitable as you! Enjoy your Twinkies! :-)

After all your hard work, you deserve more than the Twinkies!

Who cares what the people in the gas station think? Devoting a year for charity is an amazing sacrifice. I hope you enjoy your reward :)

Most people can't say they did what you did, OP. Even though it wasn't about new adventures, it is amazing you went and helped so many people. Be proud of yourself and enjoy those Twinkies!

29 You sound like a pretty amazing person yourself! Keep up the good fight girl! Your baby is beautiful! God bless

#16, so, basically you went to the shit-holes of the world to help out? Good for you, but I hope the next time you travel, you get to go to some places that are more exciting than extruded sponge.

I salute you good sir, for you are a brave and selfless defender of the poor. (Excellent choice in profile pic too.)

#31, Hopefully one day you can understand that helping others can be more rewarding than just looking out for yourself.

Well it is very nice of you do so, complaining about it by saying the most exciting thing was Twinkies is kind of silly. You knew that it wasn't going to be the most entertaining of things. Charity is rarely entertaining. You kinda deserve it, though there is not much to deserve besides your excitement over Twinkies.

If you do something that you know isn't going to be exciting and adventurous, then why complain about it not being exciting and adventurous? Charity is wonderful and gives you a good feeling, but it is not some fantastic all night party with exotic dancers, booze, your favorite musical artists, and whatever else your heart desires. You're giving up your time and possibilities of how you could of otherwise spent your time. You give up entertainment in most charitable actions. It is working really, just free of charge. It is not going to be the best time of your life excitement wise. It certainly seems that it is a "you deserve it." You went to a situation expecting A). You finish with the situation and then complain about A). That's pretty the definition of "you deserve it," for me. There's not really a defense here that OP could give to make it not a "you deserve it," for me. Yes, they did charity, but they're complaining about the lack of excitement, which shouldn't be important at all. Plus it is something they knew was probably going to happen in the first place.

Why is Op's highlight of the year not one the moments where they were doing charitable work anyways? Even with no excitement, wouldn't you feel good from helping others and find that to be a better highlight? I remember helping out sorting things for a food drive and then helping deliver some of the food. The people that needed the food receiving it was the best thing ever. It was a highlight definitely. Doing something for the good of others and that good feeling that comes from doing so should be a better highlight than Twinkies. Where's the sense of I really helped out those people?

I don't see what the problem is. You did a load of good deeds and the universe rewarded you. Enjoy the Twinkies :)

41, did you really need to comment three different novels? -____-

Well I needed to elaborate my ideas properly. Concise and emotionally doesn't tend to be my style of commenting here. If you can't make yourself be understood, then you have no point in writing. Besides that, I tried to add to one through editing, but I ran out of time and a the other comments were born. Plus I was very close to arguing against myself and seeing how many people are actually paying attention when they read comments.

Perdix has been buried!!! That's probably one of the most rewarding trips you could have gone on :) I know a year is a ton a long time to do something like that.

Sadly, 46, you did not make much sense in your novel posts. It seemed to be a never ending rant about complaing though. OP, however, was not complaing in the follow up, she was explaining. Maybe you should reread the comment and change the tone you seem to be reading it in. OP, enjoy those Twinkies. You have earned them.

Enjoy your twinkies OP, you've earned them.

Twinkies suck! All about the ho hos

perdix 29

#17, you are right, and Ho-Hos have always been available -- 20 bucks will get you a skanky one and a clean one can run into the thousands! The sweet, creamy roll is worth it, but I don't need to tell you that, right? ;)

I also prefer Hohos to Twinkies, but I doubt anyone will stop taking them for granted unless they too are ever discontinued as a part of an elaborate publicity stunt.

Twinkies are where it's at. No one wants those damn Snowballs...

Haiti, Bolivia, Cameroon, the Australian outback, Myanmar, Moldova, Cleveland. Yeah, that sounds about right -- you need a new travel agent.

Only fatties would do something like this LOL
