Today, after having saved up my money for months to buy my college-bound son the car of his dreams, I got a phone call telling me it had been totalled during a drag-race. I only gave him the keys two days ago. FML

I seriously hope you knocked his dumb ass out. And that you had insurance.

Someone with a 2-day-old Prius only drives between 32 and 42 mph, trying to master the art of "pulse and glide." You need a lot of work on your pedal dexterity to do the correct glide.

Smart car? Didn't seem very smart to me.

I have found that my Prius gets better gas mileage doing 80mph on the highway than 70mph. :/ although I have still never been able to get 50mpg out of it. The 35-40mpg is still better than my Tahoe ever got.

If he's in collage, hes definately old enough to save up for his own car.

Common man don't give me that , I'm 19 going on 20 , living with two roomates in a 3 bedroom condo and making car payments on a Lexus is300 myself . Nothings impossible but I race my shit all day and don't crash because my dad not only taught me how to drive but how do be independent and not be spoiled

With some people you can teach them to drive till they are 50 and still they will chose to ignore instruction and thinking they are invincible, feel the need to race.

15 what part of he totaled his car by drag racing do you not under stand your post was way off from the OP teaching your kid to not crash maybe it was the other cars fault, and if you re read the OP post you would have seen that it was his car not his parents

Can I say, you are my new best friend? Love my is300! (though insurance sucks!) is yours the 5-speed?

I only drag-race on Saturday nights. When I put on that pink wig and high heels no-one can out-run me. We are talking about the same drag-racing aren't we?

Might as well buy me a car I'm 15 and I won't total it

Who said it was a v8? V6's are just as fast depending on the car.

Whether it was a V8 or a V6 is irrelevant. You don't give kids nicer cars because they're kids that just learned how to drive.

well you're a good parent, he needs to learn to appreciate you and what you give him more!
