Today, after months of being pestered to do so, I finally read the first Harry Potter book. I hated it. Upon hearing this, my girlfriend posted the fact on Facebook, where I immediately received tons of abuse and eventual shunning by my friends, family, and coworkers. My girlfriend just laughed. FML

You're not alone! I (and apparently several others on here) dislike the Harry Potter books too. What your family and friends did is really unbelievably immature. If I found out my best friend or family member didn't like my favorite book I wouldn't give a care. It's YOUR opinion which YOU are entitled to.

It'd be amazing if all or most of the people that gave him heat about it never read the actual book, and not surprising. I myself never read the books, I'm more of a Percy Jackson fan :)

Lol. I'm laughing more at the Hypocrisy of the HP fans. They act so offended when someone says an opinion as simple as they don't like the books. But then they turn around and see no harm in talking crap about other books and fans of other books. They are seriously vicious and not in a good way. In a crazy vicious way. Just from observing they are the crazy over obsessive fans not other fans of other things, unlike what you might here. And the sad truth is this this will probably be drowned in dislikes. But its the truth and you can't stop me from saying it
