Today, after months of job searching, I finally got a call about one of my applications. I wasn't able to answer it, but he left a voicemail. I've listened to it over and over, and I can't understand the contact information. He called from a restricted number. FML

Im sure you are frustrated over this, but if they dont call back maybe it just wasn't meant to be. Good luck in your job search though.

YDI for not answering the phone

I hate when that happens. FYL op, as a recruiter I would have sent an email as well.

Call back every place you sent your resume and tell them you want to confirm they got it and let them know that you're really interested. You might even find a better job offer, who knows. Good luck !

Maybe let someone else listen to it and see if they can understand him.

Well, since caller ID is out thanks to the restricted number, what about *69?

Since caller ID is out due to the restricted number, what about *69? Also, why were you unable to answer the phone? If you're unemployed and that desperate for a job, you couldn't have been that busy if you missed such an important call. Just wondering.

They may not have it available on their phone, or have to pay a charge for it that they can't afford to pay if they don't have a job even if it is a very small charge. I'm also sure that they still have friends and a life outside of looking for a job (especially if they are out of work, they probably need the stress relief of having fun and support of a friend), maybe they were to busy hanging out with a friend, or were in the process of handing in an application and didn't want to look unprofessional or unavailable to have an interview on the spot if the opportunity had presented itself. They could have been in the bathroom, or perhaps sleeping.... because you know you don't stop needing to do these things because you are looking for a job. There's plenty of reasons they could have missed the call. Nobody can monitor the phone the whole entire day. Also they never said they were unemployed, just job searching so they could have a job but be trying to find something better. Anyway, sorry OP, that sucks. Hopefully you find something soon.

Tomorrow on fml: "today, after spending all day yesterday calling back prospective employees to schedule interviews, none of them called me back."
