Kids are straight shooters. They don't beat around the bush or filter what they say. They also don't have a very solid grasp on emotionally and socially complex concepts. It's probably because (i'm assuming you're doing the stereotypical stay at home mom thing... which i believe is a safe assumption statistically) she sees you as the authority to answer to. You are the one who catches her and punishes her all day while dad is out at work. The father figure is the one who is around when you do fun stuff as a family. If you're a kid... who do you like better?
