Ever sat next to an obese person on an airplane? It's quite a different experience than a slender person hence the need to mention it.

"Obesity" starts at like 20-30lbs above the supposed healthy weight based on the universal BMI chart (which is totally off for a decent portion of humans, but that's another issue), yet I see that term thrown around a lot. So I wonder if OP means morbidly obese?
