Today, an old lady came to the bank where I worked at to apply for a loan. She obviously didn't qualify for one as she has no income coming in. She looked so pitiful, so I changed a couple of her information so she could. She reported me and I got fired. FML

It's a good thing you tried to help her though! Didn't you see the movie, "Drag Me To Hell"???? Bad things could happen if you reject little old ladies!

Lolololol, it's like a Drag Me To Hell parody. :D

@plutosplanet: Damn straight. I'm in the middle of buying a house. My wife and I have good incomes, excellent credit, and 0 debt. Yet a person who didn't pay their mortgage (and took out a mortgage without intending to pay it -- yes folks, it got so bad that people were taking out mortgages without any source of income), can make a claim to a house that we were intending to buy. Turns out that, in our state, if a BANK improperly foreclosed on a house that they improperly made a mortgage agreement on, the previous "owners" can come back and claim the house is still theirs. The current occupants -- i.e. us -- would get the shaft. Of course, the bank listed the house without any title defects. End result: my wife and I are out $1,000 in inspection fees and no house. Banks suck. So do people who take out mortgages with no intention of paying.

Wow, lending money to people who won't be able to pay it back... Isn't that basically the practice that's landed us all in this Economic Crisis to begin with (Allow me to simplify a little, but you get the gist).

YDI.. buuut the economy actually does go up and down every 20 years (about). It's the way it works... it's only so bad now because everyone thought they were being a genius, saved their money early, then stores didn't have as many customers because those geniuses didn't want to spend their money, then stores started firing people because they didn't have enough customers, and now a lot of people are out of jobs because of their genius actions. Economy 101. :)

Sucks. Sometimes you have to throw out your humanity if you want to keep your job though. It's rough, but it's true. If everyone authorized to determine who gets loans acted in the same way, it may result in far too many people falling into unreasonable debt, worsening our economy. I don't think this would be any better than you losing your job, especially not for the rest of us who try to get jobs and do our jobs the right way. Kudos for having such a big, selfless heart, though. It's something really unappreciated these days

i'm a sensitive person too, but you are there to do business, not pity the elderly.

just goes to show you can't trust anyone...and this sounds like the plot of a movie...btws

Hey, you tried to help an elderly person. kudos. Would she have lived long enough to pay off the loan? probably not, so no foul there. I wish you the best in finding a new job.
