Today, an old lady walked up to my car on a busy street and banged on my window. She was annoyed because I was making a left, as opposed to continuing to drive when there was no traffic in front of me. She then got in her car and held the horn until I went. FML

deebroooo tells us more.

A street that didn't have a specific turning lane. And to clarify my blinker was on. Took awhile to turn because there was a lot of cars coming toward so I was there a while.

Was this a single lane street? How long were you waiting for? It had to be awhile of an old lady had time to park, talk to you, get back in her car and honk her horn. This FML feels incomplete in my opinion.

I'm sure other people realized you were in the right in this situation. If anything, people probably just remember a crazy old lady laying on her horn and not you.

This wouldn't happen in my car, it auto locks my door locks once I start moving. I have had people try to get in my door while I drove. The car will not let me drive with unlocked cabin doors. Lock your doors!

Nothing about the FML said the woman got into OP's car.

To be honest, I dislike when people sit and wait a long time in a single lane waiting for a left turn in busy traffic when they can drive on and find a safer place to u-turn or something to turn around. This allows traffic to flow better. The several minutes it may take for you to wait for that turn is the several minutes you could've taken to go forward and turn around. It's easier to right turn than left turn on a single lane road. And it's safer. But.... It sucks how childish the lady was. Both your fault I feel.

That's more trouble on the person needing to turns part. The wait could be the time to turn might be the same as driving on and finding a place to turn on but they then have to drive and find a way where they want to go. As opposed to waiting to turn and then going on with their lives. The road doesn't belong to you, it's not their fault they have to wait to turn. It's taking time out of their day as well. Get over yourself.

I'm a roadway engineer in Utah and UDOT is testing an intersection designed like that. Called a thrU turn. No lefts occur at that intersection but a quarter mile down the road is a special signal that you make a U turn and then go back to the first intersection and make a right. Very efficient to go straight but mildly annoying to make a left however it does relieve congestion quite well

Oh god, those stupid u-turn things suck. I live near one. It's a good idea in theory, but whoever designed it forgot, people are dumbass drivers who don't follow any sort of instruction, but rather do whatever they feel like doing to make it easier and be lazy about it. You can't drive down that stretch of road without nearly getting in several accidents.

Well... Did you have your turn signal on? I can see why she would get mad if you didn't signal... Or if you weren't far enough over to let her pass if passing was legal

sounds like something that would happen in Philly.

Did you give her a good old fashion **** off?
