Today, as I was yelled at by a middle school teacher in front of 30 6th graders for breaking the rule of "no cell phones in school." Luckily, I escaped being sent to the office after explaining I'm a 21 year old college student doing student teaching observations, not a middle schooler. FML

I'm glad you're getting your lessons in double standards and hypocrisy! I'll bet you smugly chew gum in class (and didn't bring enough for everyone!)

I know how you feel. I worked as a TA at my former HS for 4 months last fall and got escorted to the front desk for suspiciously walking around. I'm 23, had a scheduled appointment and they didn't believe that i wasn't a student.

I had a 20-year-old student teacher in sixth grade, and someone at school seriously asked her if she was a sixth grader. It's not really an FML, but that is embarrassing.

x i know exactly how you feel. people always guess that i'm sixteen because i'm skinny and short. and i'm twenty. x

I'm 28 and get mistaken for a 14 year ALL of the time. When I was doing my field observations for teaching (around age 23/24), the secretary would scream at me every time I signed the visitors log instead of the tardy student sheet - she never did catch on even though I was there every week. While it means I pay child prices for most things, strangers often talk down to me because they think I'm a teenage

I'm glad there are teachers out there keeping kids in line. #60 there was nothing said about texting, the phone may have just been on the OP's belt or something.

Meh. I'm a senior in high school and I went to pick up my brother from his elementary school. One of the teachers thought I was a student. Same thing happened to my mom one time when she went to pick up my sister. Except she got yelled at for not being in class. I honestly don't think either of us look that young...just sayin...

maybe if you were not teaching the children that it is ok to be on their cell phone you wouldnt have a problem...

YDI. No cell phones in school = no cell phones in school. How do you except that the students will obey that rule if even the teachers (ot teacher-to-be) don't?

Maybe it's a rule for the students only? That's how it is at my school...
