Today, at work, I served a group of three teens. Their tab was $75 and they tipped me nothing. They wrote a thank you on a piece of receipt paper, put it in a glass of water and used a coaster to turn the glass of water upside down on the table, spilling water everywhere. They also stole my pen. FML

My generation can be little *****, I have to say ...

This type of disrespect is definitely not confined to this generation. From this site you've seen how ridiculous people of all ages can be.

I was sitting in a restaurant and I was watching these two kids probably 18 and they put a dollar in the drink and we're putting it upside down so I just walked up and tipped it over right as they were going and spilled it on them. I tipped the waitress instead.

Very kind of you indeed! It's your sort of kindness and thoughtfulness of others and not being afraid to do something about it on the moment that still makes going to work not such a bad thing.

I've never been a fan of pranks, especially on strangers...I bet the stolen pen stung the most.

I'm a hostess/waitress at a diner, and trust me... the pen does hurt the worst -.- but sorry OP hope they step on a Lego

I'm sorry, our generation can suck, but were not all bad

Stop saying our generation. It be different if it was an actual collective group but when random people that are young do it it doesn't even mean our generation is ****** up. You ignorant troll. Stop band wagoning others "this generation" is more like a few over the edge assholes.

You'll remember them next time, I make teens ask for everything they need or want or they don't get it

which is probably why they don't tip you and do stupid shit.

Like these little ***** deserve anything better?

I have always tipped commensurate with the service I receive. I start at 20% and adjust things from there. IIn thirty years of paying bills I can count the times that I left zero tip on both hands And two of those it was horrible enough that I should have pranked the shit out of them. But shitty waitstaff generally aren't the ones that have to clean up those messes. Generally.

that blows dude, refuse them service next time.

I work as a receptionist and have to deal with a lot of rude people but I dont receive tips and I get low pay. just be glad you get tips at all after dealing with some people. most people have to put up with crap and dont get a chance at extra money.

I don't know where you are, but OP is in the US where waiters are paid below the minimum wage. They can't survive relying only on their wage. They NEED the tips.

Tips aren't "extra money," they're the paycheck. If a waitress doesn't get tipped it's like you having to work without being clocked in. Your pay may be low, but I'll bet it's not $1.79 an hour (server hourly where I live).

#41: YOU receive minimum wage, waitstaff don't get minimum wage and need tips to survive.

In Oregon, servers make state minimum wage (currently $9.10) PLUS get tips.

rocker_chick23 27

Well, the OP isn't from Oregon, she's from Minnesota.

Except, like in Oregon, Minnesota pays their tipped servers the name minimum wage as non tipped employees- $7.25.

rocker_chick23 27

$7.25 an hour? That isn't a living wage.

I agree, it isn't. But according to the government, it's what we can make due with. Apparently. lol

ckyorelse 18

if it is not a living wage then get a better job, or go to college or learn a trade. better your life

rocker_chick23 27

#74: That isn't going to do shit. Many people have college degrees or learn a trade and can't get jobs in their fields, so they do minimum wage jobs.

ckyorelse 18

then they got the wrong degree or trade. should've done engineering I get job offers all the time

rocker_chick23 27

You want a ******* medal? Just because you get job offers doesn't mean anything. My husband is a history teacher and it took him four years to get a job. Before that, he was a cook at a diner.

I used to have to deal with that. I hated it, just remember their faces and breast time make them miserable. servers always have the power

Edit: this was supposed to be an answer for #41. Oops.

Work at dicks :) you can be a complete ass to them and get paid for it..
