Today, at work, I served a group of three teens. Their tab was $75 and they tipped me nothing. They wrote a thank you on a piece of receipt paper, put it in a glass of water and used a coaster to turn the glass of water upside down on the table, spilling water everywhere. They also stole my pen. FML

Today, while at the restaurant I work at, a bunch of kids came in. They all gave incredibly complex orders, laughed at everything I did, and made a huge mess by "spilling" hot sauce and water all over the floor. After they left, I was tipped eleven cents. FML

Today, I was waitressing for a huge family. Their bill was $750. Excited about the tip, I was shocked to see only $0.50. As they were leaving, I threw the two whole quarters at their heads. Guess who also got fired today. FML

Today, I went into work to waitress on a table of 40 guests. They were my only table for the day and the bill came to over 700 dollars. After they left the busser was cleaning the table and threw out the credit card receipt which had my tip on it. FML

Today, at work, I got to wait on one of those tables where everyone had very complex orders, and some of them sent their food back. When the time finally came for me to bring them their check and receive my well-earned tip, I returned only to discover that they'd dined and dashed. FML

Today, while I was working at Starbucks, a customer spilled her drink all over the counter. After I cleaned up her spill and remade the drink (for free), she exclaimed, "Thanks! I should really tip you!" Then she turned around, walked directly past the tip jar, and left the store. FML

Today, I was working as a waitress at this pub. It was dead. After 4 hours I had only made 5$ in tips. A friendly couple came in and complimented EVERYTHING down to the freshness of the lemons in their tea. The bill came to $50. They left me a $5 gift card to starbucks. I don't drink coffee. FML

Today, I was waitering at the restaurant that I work at when I collected a credit card bill that was worth $120 and a big zero on the tip line. Angered, I turned to a co-worker and said "I knew this asshole wasn't going to tip me." The guy was standing right behind me with $30 in his hand. FML

Just because they ordered $75 worth does not mean they need to too you and you shouldn't be so money hungry like that. Yes, they probably should have just because it's nice, but they are not obliged to tip, no one is. You probably had a bad face on the whole time you served.

I don't know if you know, but waiters and waitresses make way less than minimum wage and rely on tips to make up for that. So educate your ignorant ass before you spout off shit like that again! Also if someone is working a table that racks up a $75 bill then they made that person work!

Do you not live in the United States? Here, there's minimum wage and then there's what's called "server's wage," which is several dollars lower. In most states, it's around $2.13, but in some states it's nothing at all. Tips are supposed to make up for the lost wages. It's an unfair system and it's made worse by douches like you who think that servers and delivery drivers (which is what I did while I was in school) are "entitled" and thus should earn less than minimum wage. I don't care what her face looked like. No one should get docked pay by the customer's whim.

Oh the joys of being a waiter/waitress. Alongside stupid rude kids, you get rude adults, and perverted drunk assholes. I had some really wonderful people come to my sections and other times I didn't. I feel your pain OP. People don't really understand the stress that comes with that kinda job. But they will get it back in full because karma really can be a bitch to people who deserve it.

Everyone saying OP was being money hungry for expecting a tip has obviously never been in the fast food field before. Waiters/waitresses make very little money because their employers expect the difference to come up in their tips. Regardless of the tip though, tipping the glass upside down like that was immature and downright rude. There is no excuse for that unless OP was a horrible server who took 30 minutes just to take their order. And even that's debatable...
