Today, at work, my boss asked me why I wasn't adhering to proper dress code. I pointed out that skinny jeans are in the dress code, to which he replied, "Only if you're skinny." FML

I don't really understand all the YDI's. It's not OP's fault her boss is an ass.

Call me crazy, but I don't want to see ANYBODY's butt crack in my workplace...whether they're fat or thin. But that doesn't really have anything to do with skinny leg jeans. Plenty of skinny leg jeans are high-waisted. It's hipster/low-rider jeans that are tacky.

Well you may not want to hear this but skinny jeans, while a popular style right now, even make thin people look fat. They are just not that attractive on anyone. Be a tread setter and try something different.

They're "skinny" jeans. Not fatty jeans I can't stand when large people wear revealing or excessively tight clothing. Nobody wants to see what you can pack your big ass into

It is actually quite illegal for him to make such a remark, you should report this to human resources

Your boss is an ass. Sorry OP

Rude of him to say that but if you're overweight you need to learn to dress yourself for your body. YDI, OP

More forms of body exist than just 'fat' and 'skinny,' dear people of FML. It is possible to have muscular or curvy legs that don't fit well; being skinny doesn't necessarily make you healthy.

You should have said that your weight makes you sassy.

Your boss had no right to tell you that, and I'm sure you can report him. But I'm going to be a devil's advocate. If you were bulging out of your pants, it just doesn't look professional and is distracting. I'm sure he could have approached it in a nicer way, but some people are in denial about how they look in clothing and need someone to knock them back into reality. BUT skinny jeans really DO only look nice on thinner people. Wearing tight-styled clothes when you're a bit larger only emphasizes your size. If your clothes don't fit and flatter your body type, you're better off without wearing that certain style. Seeing muffin tops on someone of ANY size looks sloppy.
