Today, at work, my boss asked me why I wasn't adhering to proper dress code. I pointed out that skinny jeans are in the dress code, to which he replied, "Only if you're skinny." FML

I don't really understand all the YDI's. It's not OP's fault her boss is an ass.

You show him who's boss, keep rocking them OP, I'm sure you look gorgeous. :)

Skinny jeans are fine on whoever if you wear YOUR size! I think people buy the sizes too small to look "skinnier" but unfortunately that's not the case. Anyway, don't sweat it OP we live in a world filled with assholes.

The name does say it all. Skinny.

I agree with him & people are probably going to hate me for it, but it's the damn truth. if my employee were wearing something unflattering, I'd do the same thing. It's unsightly and unprofessional, especially if it were in customer service where people have to actually see you. I don't think skinny jeans were designed for obese people, people that say "I'm not fat, I'm curvy and thick". Be a big, beautiful woman but please, spare us having to look at your fat rolls over-flowing jeans that don't flatter your shape.

Nobody said she was obese. The boss more than likely has a different opinion on "skinny" and fat. Who knows, she may very well be the perfect body weight, and her boss is just an ass. Also, you don't have to be so rude. It's people like you who cause people to have poor body image. Think about how that affects a person before you spout off such a nasty and hateful comment.

#66, In other situations, I'd agree with you. The boss did put it rudely. But in the workplace, right or not, OP's been told. If she values her job, she'll skip the skinnies at work.

Then maybe people with insecurities should stop posting shit like that when any idiot knows what the comments will be like following!

I don't care if you call me ugly- to each their own. Some people are offended with America's tolerance for over-fat-ness and obesity and others think it's A-OK. Obesity is an epidemic and SO many health-related issues could be resolved if people were more aware and stopped accepting it- it's good to accept yourself, not OK to lie to yourself to make yourself feel better nor lie to other people. In a professional setting, it's unacceptable to wear clothes that are too small for you. BTW- since when did we have to sign a social contract in order to state our opinions? How is what I said disrespectful? Some people are blunt and some people sugar-coat. The difference is, you call me whatever you want, I don't care. Every day I wake up and work on being the best person I can possibly be. Out of ONE comment I left, suddenly I'm ugly, rude, etc. I have enough self-confidence to not care if someone says something "mean" about me. I also have enough common sense to not wear clothes that do not flatter my figure. Troll on me, that's cool. But where someone disagrees with me, someone else agrees with me. Just like where someone thinks I'm "ugly" someone else thinks I'm beautiful. For instance, my mama. :-) I'm done with this thread now, have a great day!

Who the hell are you assholes to say someone is not beautiful if they don't resemble all the photoshopped celebrities in the magazines? Some people weren't made toothpicks and they actually eat. Skinny jeans are the new fashion trend and they come In All sizes so that everyone can enjoy them. They're just fitted. So you should stop talking because I'm sure there are things about you that are much less flattering than OP wearing skinny jeans (her dress code) to work, starting with your shitty attitude.

No body is saying she doesn't look good; just saying that certain styles don't look good on certain body shapes and skin-tight styles don't look good on larger individuals... I had a hard time wearing them (skinny jeans) when I was size 9; no one (who is saying anything worthwhile) is saying that the OP can't be sexy; anyone can be sexy in the right clothes, but not everyone can be sexy in every style of clothing. Try A-line skirts or boot-cut jeans and I bet the OP will be looking F-O-X-Y! :)

I don't care if you're a bigger person. But for God's sake, WEAR CLOTHES THAT FIT YOU! Clothes that are appropriate FOR your size! It's my BIGGEST pet peeve. I don't wanna see skin and shit falling out all over, or look at someone who looks like stuffed meat in a teeny tiny stocking. -_- And no, this does NOT just apply to fat people. I think it's ridiculous when skinny people wear super baggy clothes. (pull your ******* pants up) Okay, my rant is over. You can thumb down now (:

if you're gonna call people out at least be honest and BLUNT. It has nothing to do with skin, if they were toned I'm sure you wouldn't mind

why do fat people especially women like to wear clothing thats too small?
