Today, at work, my boss asked me why I wasn't adhering to proper dress code. I pointed out that skinny jeans are in the dress code, to which he replied, "Only if you're skinny." FML

I don't really understand all the YDI's. It's not OP's fault her boss is an ass.

"They're called skinny jeans, not make you skinny jeans!" -Nathan Ryan

They're called "skinny" jeans for a reason. No body wants to see a 5lb sausage squeezed into a 2lb wrapping so apply the same principle to your own life... year boot-cut or straight-leg or flare for god's sake. You wouldn't wear a skin tight bandage dress unless you were in the shape to fit in one; wear a sack if that's all that you fit in, just don't try to stuff yourself into someone sexy if you aren't that shape. Either go to the gym and diet (not that hard) or find clothes that suit your body type.

Not that hard? You must have been born a twig.

I for one have no qualms about seeing a 5 lb sausage squeezed into a 2 lb wrapping. Matter of fact, I have no problem with any food item being shoved into, or popping out of a container too small. Not a very good principle.

Or maybe they don't let themselves get to the point where it's unmanageable. I went through a phase where I ballooned out, but once I gained 15 pounds more than I usually do, I realized I needed to start going to the gym or it would just escalate. Even if you're overweight, if you're still gaining weight, do something about it rather than sitting around complaining about "how hard it is" and hating skinny people for having self control. Even if you have 100 lbs. to lose, start by losing one point at a time and realize that any weight you take off only makes you healthier. Gaining more weight because losing weight seems too difficult is unacceptable and quite frankly stupid.

there's a difference between shit that doesn't fit, resulting in massive muffin tops, and well fitting skinny jeans. your boss is a douche.

Regardless of OP's actual weight or appearance, her boss was wrong to approach the subject in that manner. Even if she weighed 600lbs, it would have been wrong of him to say that to her. He could have been much more tactful and kind about it.

That's grounds for a lawsuit these days. He needs to watch what he says.

Why does everyone want to sue everyone these days? If your feelings get hurt, they get hurt. Not like its such a hostile environment. People that shout lawsuit at the first chance they get are more of an asshole then the person whom might of hurt that persons feelings. Ruin someone's life/business because you got your feelings hurt...people please. Harassment and assault are totally different issues though.
