You should have slapped them, then blamed it on hormones!!
congrats! and some women wait to tell their jobs for different reasons. I waited to tell mine until I was 5 months along to make sure the baby was healthy.
Well it is an easy explanations so hopefully they understood. Even though it IS easily fixable, I do agree that it is an FML. The FML is that the OP's coworkers/boss (whoever yelled at her/told on her, etc.) automatically assumed she was hungover rather than having morning sickness or AT LEAST that she was sick! But congratulations, anyway!
I'm amazed that nobody has clued in that she might not want to tell her boss she's pregnant because she's afraid of employment repercussions. There are still employers, especially in at-will states in the U.S., who will pass up an employee for a deserved promotion or choose her to be laid off if they find out she's pregnant. She shouldn't have to put herself at risk for discrimination in order to not have people assume she's hung over just because she threw up.
OK, just checked and she's in the UK--I'm not sure what their laws are on discriminating against pregnant women, but it's still a risk even if she has the law behind her.
Most women wait until after the nuchal sono at 12 weeks to share the news. This is to make sure they have a healthy baby. She probably could not tell them the truth yet so yes, FHL...for now.
Just explain that you're pregnant! It's not that big a deal -_-
