Today, at work, someone heard me throw up. I then got called aside and told being hungover at work is unacceptable. I don't drink. I'm pregnant. FML

In my experience...if people hear you throw up, the assumption is that you're sick. If their first thought goes to a hangover instead...then it's possible there was some sort of history that warranted it. I'm not saying this is the case...the listener could just have been a puker themselves from too much partying & felt like kindred spirits.

Most women wait until the second trimester to talk about their pregnancies because the risk for miscarriage goes down. It's considered bad luck to share the news too early for that reason. And since morning sickness is a first trimester symptom, you can see the problem. If this is a new job, she could be fired or laid off for "other reasons" and so keeping her pregnancy under wraps would be important. Further, pregnant women are bombarded with advice and criticisms, so keeping everyone in the dark for the first few months can be an attractive idea, too.

I don't get this not telling people. You have a child. Maybe the child will not survive, but it is a very important part of your life already.

Like said, many people will start giving unwarranted advice. Also, within the first few months the chances of a miscarriage can be high. It would be devastating to tell everyone you are pregnant only to find out you had a miscarriage and have to tell everyone else that you are no longer having a baby. Not everyone would be happy knowing that possibly all their family, friends, and maybe even coworkers knew they had a miscarriage.

Boy or girl? Wait, are you even supposed to work when you're pregnant?

You can work... you just shouldn't lift anything heavy. I worked up until the night before I had my son.

You deserve it for two reasons: 1) You got pregnant and thought it'd be a good idea to go to work while you're still feeling morning sickness. 2) You're a woman who thought she could work in a mans world.

You are so obviously a man. So people have to work while pregnant, and there is no ma's world and woman's world, anymore. You should know that by now.

and your an asshole for saying women shouldnt work b/c and women are just as important as men women can do far more than men can.

They should just get the baby's father to work while they're pregnant, he's the one who should be working anyway.

The days of one person's salary being enough to support two people are coming to an end for all but the richest.. Not the 50's anymore, bud.

That's because the woman who think they're allowed to work are stealing the men's salaries. Men need to be stronger, we can't let those ******* feminists push us around.

Who's got power, who's got juice? Who's got the money, it's a woman's world! Oh yeah, and you're a sexist douchebag. Go make your own damn sandwich.

Men have the power and they make more money than women (and rightfully so). We also have a special juice of our own. I shouldn't have to make my own damn sandwich, it should be ready by the time I get home.

Why can I only push the thumbs down button once? D:

You're one of those people who want to ruin things for men by letting women steal their jobs, leave the house dressed like skanks, and give them an unfair opportunity in divorce courts when it comes to child custody aren't you?

sandwich ready for you? hmmm... let me think.... you think you're stronger, well stronger means you'll be able to open the jars (like mayo) better, smarter means you'll know how to make it better if we're so damn inferior then let us get out of your hair and you can do your own damn work. if you're as great as you think you are the meaningless task of making your own sandwich won't even phase you. I am woman hear me roar.

Tell those co workers to mind their own f'ing business

So someone heard you throw up and their first assumption was a hangover (instead of pregnancy, bulimia, illness, etc.)? Sounds like someone has an alcohol problem, and it's not you.
