Today, being a music student, a professional orchestra performed a symphony that I wrote and dedicated to my girlfriend. It took months to compose and it the first and only time it was ever going to be played. My girlfriend forgot to come. FML

What a lot of people seem to forget is the EFFORT you put into this. Regardless of anyone's views on this genre of music, most women should appreciate the sheer amount of time. It's the thought that counts, right? Cliche, but in this case, true. That was f'ing romantic of you to do that...but without knowing the reason why she didn't come it makes it harder to pass judgment.

A guy dedicated a piece he wrote to his girlfriend- me. The only problem was that I wasn't his girlfriend and never wanted to date him. I walked out when he performed it. Maybe the "girlfriend" had the same problem.

Its unlikely to be repeated unless he becomes famous. Orchestras are big so you would need to bring lots of people together to play it again.

What a bitch. Even if you didn't make it clear that it's for her, she should still come see it. If I composed a symphony, it wouldn't matter if it's for my pet rock, my girlfriend had better come hear it if she wants to avoid being an ex. She obviously doesn't appreciate you, so I say you dump her. Find a girl who went to the performance and just tell her you wrote the symphony for "the concept of love." That will get you laid.
