Today, I went with my fiancé to meet his parents. He was really sweet the whole way there, and once we got there he introduced me as 'the girl I'm going to marry'. His parents took one look at me and said, "Are you sure?" I laughed, because I thought they were joking. They weren't. FML

Age gaps? Different nationalities? Monetary differences? Time you've been together? I can only guess that there's a reason they think it's fake. Maybe they think it's visa related etc. That's what my parents thought of my engagement :)

I know how you feel. My parents did not even come to my wedding because they thought the whole thing was a joke. Give it 10 years or so and you may get an apology.
