That sounds exactly like my little sister's situation. She's allergic to the Douglas Fir, which is the most common tree used for Christmas trees. We did not find this out until my father threw a fit and insisted we buy a real tree on the last Christmas before my parents divorced, but even after she started breaking out in a rash WHILE WE WERE IN THE LOT, he refused to reconsider even when my mom and everyone else in the family begged him to for her sake. He forced my poor sister through a solid month of hell and constant medication because of his selfishness. I'm sorry your parents are such dicks, OP, I hope your allergies are not too serious and that the season passes quickly for you.
Better ask Santa for some Zyrtec
well now that sucks.. try to take some allergy meds..
To be fair to your parents i can see their point. It isn't something they can take back for a refund, they cost a lot and nobody likes to waste money. Is there not a family member or neighbour who doesn't have a tree yet they could sell it to? Even if they can't sell it for the full price they paid, something is better than nothing, and your health should be a priority.
A real tree costs anywhere from 20 dollars to 75. It's not like they're out 200 dollars. They're being selfish point blank period
Instead of pine-ing about it fir all the world to see, I wood do something about it. I suggest allergy meds to spruce up the situation.
I get fake Christmas tree not to destroy environment, even if they are made in reserved areas.
Yet plastic still doesn't degrade…?
Plastic contamines, right, but is more durable. Get a real one every year and you'll be polluting much more, because behind the work that needs to get done for your tree there are lots of materials used to make it. Oil consumption, metal for blades to cut, for them to be build there is the need of oil consumption again, big machines polluting, etc.
Yeah, for Christmas to get here. Here's hoping OP's folks aren't the kind to leave up decorations for weeks or even months afterward.
Unfortunately gonna be even longer than that, most likely. Almost all christmas trees lose a decent amount of needles, which somehow manage to stay around until late January, early February, at least. I usually still manage to find some when hiding eggs for Easter.
It could just be a specific type of tree. My mom's allergic to one type so we make sure to avoid that when we pick one out.
Could you re-decorate it with outdoor safe decorations and put it out on the porch, or deck? Say it's so beautiful you want everyone to be able to see it!

Cover it in tin foil in the middle of the night.
What reaction do you get? Hope its nothing serious, I have a lot of allergies too. Huge pains in the ass
