YDI for expecting a tip for working at Subway. I don't mind tipping waiters because they're doing a lot of running around, make below minimum wage, and depend on tips. But tip jars are popping up everywhere! You already get paid for your job. I get paid for mine and I don't expect anything beyond that. In short, you're not pathetic because you don't get tips. People just don't want to tip you because you're already getting paid.
make me a ****** sammich
I'm frankly tired of all this b***ing from bartenders/military/waiters. Everyone had a chance to pick the job that they work in. For someone to say "where is my tip jar, I work in the with crying children/dessert/deli owner" is ridiculous. I don't understand why a simple statement of a having a tip jar made people flip out. Maybe the guys that are bashing on a Subway having a tip jar, are too fed up with their own jobs that they feel they need to vent there anger out. A tip jar implicates a good job done and no one is forced to add money to it. Customers have the free will to add money or not. All jobs are hard sometimes and no one's is better than the other. We all have the option to get the "F" out if we don't like it. A tip jar isn't meant to be translated into having a job that is more experienced or smooching off of people but more of a courteous notion when someone adds loose change or a dollar bill. EVERYONE has there own opinion of what is worth tipping and what isn't. If their criteria of what is worth tipping isn't up to par with yours then be respectful and keep your mouth closed.
i reckon people who write stuff like this are faking
I do that at the beginning of every shift, because then people realize it's a tip jar and not for loose change. Also, if you put a dollar or two in, it's like bait. More people will give tips.
It's subway you idiot. No one tips at subway. You guys don't put the cheese on correctly.
Maybe it will encourage people to leave more tips

trust me, it didn't work
Your reasoning behind doing it is pretty sad. But putting a dollar or two in before you start your shift usually helps people tip a little bit more on a slow night (which is why I did it when working at certain establishments).
