Today, I told my boyfriend of nine months that depression runs in my family and I think the reason I've been flipping shit so much lately may be that I am depressed. Not five minutes later he decided a break would be "the best thing for us right now." FML

Today, my boyfriend of 3 years dumped me. I was really depressed, so a couple of my friends came over to take me out to a club to cheer me up. My ex was there, partying with his friends. He came up to me and my friends, and asked my friend if she wanted to hang out sometime. She said yes. FML

Today, my boyfriend of the last 2 years, who is suicidal and heavily depressed, left me because he thinks I "deserve better". Not to mention I was his best friend, therapist, mother and girlfriend all in one. He left me with rent due in a week and all other expenses because he couldn’t take care of me in return. FML

Did he dump you because of the depression? Or because he was going to anyway? The former is a douche move and be glad to be rid of him. However if it's the latter he might well be going to support you through it as a friend, I can see why he might not want to prolong the relationship for such reasons but might find other ways to support you.

Jesus my fiancé knew I had depression before he proposed to me if a guy really loves he'd stick by you no matter what the situation is at least you know now he didn't love you

I have to agree with #10. I've gone through it and I think every one goes through at one point or another. it my seem bleak now but I promise you ( from one previously depressed Soul to another) you get throguh it :)

What people don't understand is that being depressed isn't an option. It's a mental disorder that causes you to focus on the negatives of life without being able to control it without professional help, which costs thousands of dollars and doesn't always work. I should know, I have depression. So all of you insensitive pricks, grow up and get a life. You're obviously not ready for the real world.
