Today, I adopted a dog from the local shelter. I put the dog in the car and he was shedding everywhere, but I was ok with that because he was my dog. As I pulled into the parking lot, the dog began to poop in the backseat of my car. When I got him out of the car, he ran off. $100 for him to poop and run away. FML

No idea what size that dog was, but regardless, you should have had him/her on a leash. YDI. :/

Awww!! You should really have put it on a leash, shelter dogs can be crazy at first lol. Are you positive you'll never be able to find him? :(

I hope people realize that microchipping is dependent on someone finding the dog and being able to read the microchip, instead of just keeping him or giving him away, or hitting him with a car. The dog would have to be taken to a vet or pound where they can actually read the chip.

I adopted my cat from Petsmart, a beautiful maine coon, and he's as sweet as can be nearly 2 years later. Yet I realize that his only car rides since we got him have taken him to new and unfamiliar places. Before that, it took him from his loving owner who took great care of him, trained him well, had him neautered and groomed and then got deployed and couldn't keep him. Someone mentioned this, but usually car rides have been traumatic for shelter animals. You should have know better, or you didn't do any research on adopting an animal.

Awww, this makes me a little mad. the dog should have been on a leash, and even if it did get away you should be searching for it not writing about it on some website!

#70, actually I was a great dogwalker, and when I worked I saw many people overpowered by their dogs. If this person just got this dog, it is understandable that they could be overpowered. Get over yourself, ass.
