Today, I advised my daughter to not drink a Coke before bed. She smiled at me and reassured me that it could be balanced out with sleeping pills. I'm raising a future drug addict. FML

Hence the word "Raising" Meaning, you should still be able to teach her and help her understand.

So what you're saying is.. *puts on sunglasses* That's not the only Coke in her future. ...that was terrible, I know.

Parenting: The fact that you haven't acted yet shows that you fail at it.

Instead of being on here posting this, you should try being a better parent and teach her right from wrong.

Because medicine of any other kind (herbal, bullshit, etc) would make the situation any different.

Well, she's not 100% wrong, but still, YDI because you raised her.

People have minds of their own. Just because OP raised her doesn't mean this is OPs fault.

Don't encourage her either....if you find it humorous now, don't be sorry later if she does become an addict.

I don't think OP finds it humorous...

People take aspirin for their heart, too...

Ah I can see it now the newest hit show my daughter the future drug addict, coke and sleeping pills. That's got a slick hook to draw the viewers in. Big ratings screaming fans, and you thought Beatle mania was crazy, they'll have nothing on her.

Umm yeah, u might want to watch out for that one. LOL

Just because op didn't mention what her response to this situation was don't just assume she didn't do anything about it....

You really want to watch the sleeping pills, insomnia may be the result of a more serious medical condition. They are also habit forming and you can be enabling her to do so. Remove them from the house if you can't use discipline to control her.

Removing them from the house may do no good. I bought sleeping pills when I was 16 and again when I was 17. She could do the same without questions unless she is younger.
