Three weeks in a row off work? Family business? Unless your aunt and uncle employ hundreds or even tens of people, who's going to cover your shifts? Stop whining and get a work ethic.
Are you from the glorious land of the free? Because we in europe, most of us get around 3-5 weeks of payed vacation. I don't know the specific laws concering Romania, but it 's still Europe. Besides they could have just denied him without firing him.
13- I hate you. Seriously.
Sue them. That's what my family does! My aunt is already prepared to sue my dad when my grandma dies for everything she owns
That's disgusting! The whole sue happy, entitlement *****, sue for any and everything (and nothing) mentality makes me sick! The legal system was set up to get justice when it's called for, NOT for every damn time someone gets their poor little feelings hurt.
Moneys not everything and it definatly does not buy happiness
Also its good to know you have a 'loving' family
20- did you read the fml? He was fired for simply requesting time off half a year from now. ... America's ******...
66..Yes, I did read the fml, and I stand by what I said, as it was in response to the post about suing family over an inheritance, which IS sickening, no matter how you look at it. We don't have enough information to make a judgment call on the fml; OP may have been a terrible employee and asking for such a long vacation may have been the last straw. He may have thrown a fit when it was denied. He may have had a chip on his shoulder and acted like he was entitled to whatever he wanted because he's blood. On the flip side, he may have been a stellar employee. I do find it hard to believe that such a great worker would be fired just like that, but we just don't know. My original reply was strictly about the suggestion to sue, especially without the info necessary to know if the firing was justified. I'm sick to death of reading those words on just about every fml. While I'm glad the legal system exists and there are ways for people to be held accountable,
(continued..hit publish by accident and ran out of time to edit) While I'm grateful for a system that gives options to hold people accountable, it is abused.
Yeah, "sue them" is about as ubiquitous here as "dump him." I understand where you're coming from.
Ouch, however three weeks is a long time. I would never consider taking off that much time.
Sucks that they fired you but 3 weeks? Who asks for 3 weeks off? Maternity leave maybe otherwise buck up,
Agreed. Also could possibly have to do with the image of the aunt & uncle, giving such a long holiday to a family member may be considered "unfair".
In Scandinavia pretty much everyone has 3 weeks vacation in July. And maternity leave is close to 1 year. Oh and we have just about the highest productivity per capita in the world.
Sweden has a standard of 5 paid vacation weeks.. yay socialism :)
25- 'Murica! Right? Where you're free to work, sleep (deprived), eat, and die.
your aunt and uncle hate you!
Well at least now you can take your vacation
I love lamp
Why would you work for your aunt and uncle in the first place?

What audacity you have, asking on such short notice. On the plus side, congrats on getting your vacation.
Most loving family on FML yet!
