Today, I asked my daughter what time it was. She stared at the clock for several seconds before muttering, "I don't know". She's 14 years old and on the honour roll, and yet she can't tell the time on an analogue clock. FML

I know college kids who can't read a regular clock. It scares me that these people are the future of this world.

Apparently it's not that uncommon. I'm 16, and the person who is top of my class can't read one either. How on earth can you not learn how?

I can't tell time on an analogue clock too and I'm your daughters age.

I learned regular clocks in 2nd grade. I guess you don't get the same results from public schools as you do from private or religious affiliated schools. She can still learn, sit her down and have a block of instruction with her.

Out of interest, how old is 2nd grade? I don't remember when I learned to tell time, I remember being taught it but not how old I was. Did you learn to tell time on a digital clock before analogue or did you learn both in 2nd grade? I was taught analogue first which seems a little strange to me now!

I learned how to read analogue clocks in public school....Why does everyone think they're so bad?

In the UK a public school IS a private school! We have 'State' or 'Public', state schools funded by the state (obviously) and public are funded by tuition fees. I went to a state school and I got a better education than my partner who went to a public school. Two examples of this, he was taught order of operations incorrectly (they totally skipped exponents) and when I read him out the FML about peeing with a tampon in he asked how that was possible because he didn't know pee came from a different hole..

what do you expect from us?? we have digital clocks and cell phones. we dont need tgose things anymore. :)

she probably just didn't want to tell you.

im on the honour roll too, im 16 and i can't tell the time either :S

Did you ever teach her to read an analogue clock? So many are digital now that she may never have needed to think about it before.
