Today, I bleached my upper lip hair so it wouldn't be visible anymore. At school, for the first time, the guy I like came over to talk to me after class. Just as I thought he was about to ask me out, he told me how weird my "gold moustache" looks. FML

Except for a few sagacious and understanding people here, I'm surprised to see how benighted some folks are. Saying "I'm gonna assume you're dark because you're Indian" is like saying "I'm gonna assume you're fat because you're American." No we aren't all dark, some of us have extremely light skin tone and brown hair. Secondly, some of the airheads here can't seem to accept the fact that all women have body hair and a peach fuzz above your lips isn't a big deal. How would you have felt if we shamed you for having a hairy stomach or a hairy back and asked you to wax them regularly? If you can't accept us women as we are, don't expect us to accept you in your natural form as well.

Shave it every day or so, or wax it. You can also try Nair, but then you might end up with irritated looking skin. Laser treatment also works, but can be expensive. Up to you how you want to handle it.

Amazon sells little facial hair trimmers that work great. I get a mustache too, but mine comes in blonde and sparkly! Super attractive -.-

He sounds like a real asshole. Who gives a hell what anyone thinks? For females shaving facial hair can be a real hassle especially if you have to do it often. My advice is if you feel comfortable with it bleached then that's indeed what you should stay with!

stop, you're trying to make a bad situation good, women with facial hair are the farthest thing from attractive

As someone else with hair-where-it-shouldn't-be problems, I highly suggest plucking it using tweezers if it's a small area and to continue this as it grows back in. If it's a large area, trying waxing it first and then using angled tweezers as some hairs will grow back faster than others, plus its unfortunately on your face so you may not want to wait until it all comes back. If you have dry skin, waxing will make it worse as the hair you are removing produces oils, so be sure to use lotion if it feels dry. Also, its a sensitive area to remove hair so I expect it will hurt the first couple times at least. This is something you will probably have to deal with for a long time, so best to try a couple different things to see what works for you. Good luck, OP... Edit: Oh, and I absolutely wouldn't recommend shaving it unless you plan to your entire life. Some people have bad reactions and it keeps growing back in darker and thicker. So I'd leave it as a last resort... At least with plucking/waxing the hair gets thinner and eventually you many not have to anymore!

Hair doesn't actually grow back darker and thicker when you shave. It's just cut bluntly and seems thicker and therefore darker. When hair is in its natural, uncut state, it's angled to a tip but then your shave it and thicker it seems. Doesn't diminish the fact it's still more visible, just a fun fact.

Is that so? I had thought that it did from what my mom told me. Thank you for the correction, I would hate to keep repeating ignorance.

DO NOT SHAVE IT omg no that's be the worst. Most girls have upper lip hair! It's normal and natural, I have it! I have dark hair too so it could be quite visible, the best thing is waxing or plucking, I pluck because of money. Take all your makeup off, pluck away and then use a toner and spot cream as you can get spots more easily in the open hair follicle now. Hope this helps! And don't worry, he sounds like a bit of a douche to point that out

Thread them off. I have fair skin and dark hair so mine look horrible. Go to a beauty salon and ask them to thread it of. It's the cheapest way, and shaving causes rough skin. Waxing causes pimples. But remember to keep that area very clean before during and a day after threading or you will break out

to prevent pimples you should scrub two or three days after waxing.

I once got my whole face threaded then the next day practically my whole cheek broke out in such a sever reaction, it was exactly like a cold sore! From that day I vowed other than my eyebrows I would NEVER touch my facial hair (even though hubby sometimes asks me if I would I tell him NOPE lol).

Waxing is always a solution, I wouldn't recommend shaving it though. Also if he's rude enough to point that out maybe you shouldn't be so interested in him. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

For the love of all that is good and holy, DO NOT shave or Nair your upper lip! Learn how to thread (YouTube is your friend) or have it professionally waxed, once, then tweeze daily the miscellaneous hair or two that pops up.

Okay so uh, not saying im right because I really don't know but.... you live in India and I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're most likely indian....why on earth would you think bleaching your moustache when you have darker than white skin would be smart?? Just wax that shit next time lol.

You say that as if every Indian has dark or non-white skin. If you actually believe that, you might well be an idiot.

No, it's just likely that if somebody comes from India they probably have dark skin

That's like saying all Americans are white! it's a billion plus population in India. there is diversity in skin tone

Wax it or thread it and you'll be fine. Avoid shaving it at all costs. I tend to see these types of imperfections as true blessings in disguise; in quick time, you'll learn who accepts you as you are. Some 'perfect' people have to find out the hard way who is insincere, shallow or otherwise unworthy of their time and attention. FYL.

Shaving does not make your skin rough, quite the opposite actually as it exfoliates the skin. It is not advisable to shave if you have acne prone skin, however. Nor does shaving cause your hair to grow back thicker or darker. When you shave you create a blunt end and sometimes cause a single hair to split, making the hair temporarily appear thicker. And because the new hair growth has not been exposed to light it may also appear darker. Again, temporary. As your hair goes through its naturally growing cycle it will again grow in with a tapered end. Many makeup artist recommend shaving or dermaplanning because it creates a smooth, flawless surface for makeup application. Any hair removal can irritate the skin, waxing, threading, depilatories (nair) and yes shaving so you'll have to find the one best for you.
