Today I bought a $50 voucher card to refill my phone. After I purchased it, I threw the receipt in the dustbin. When I got home, I found out that the 14-digit pin code was on the receipt. I basically threw 57 bucks in the dustbin. FML

Have you refilled your phone before? I would think that if you have, then you'd know that the code was on the receipt. Then again, we all have days where we derp out and forget how to function properly. Whatever the case, I hope you were able to redeem the credit that you lost.

I'm sure there is a number on the card you can call for this type of situation. You're not the first person to chuck a receipt.

Go back to the store dressed in dirty rags like a beggar, and dig through the garbage until you find your receipt. That way you can redeem your 57$ purchase and no one know how stupid you really are ... except maybe the entire FML community!

This is why I do my top up in the store/shop before I leave it. But it sounds like you didn't know how the process works so sorry Op! I hope you can get this sorted somehow.

I bet if you'd listened, the cashier reminded you to hang on to the reciept

Usually the cashier will show you the code so you don't throw it away

as long as another person hasn't found said receipt you should be able to go back to point of purchase explain situation and get a new recharge

Wow, sorry OP. Usually the staff tells you at check out that the numbers on the receipt..

Is this your first time doing this? Isn't the code always in the receipt?
