Today, I bought an iTunes giftcard worth $50. I tried to scratch off the little silver thing covering the code with a pair of scissors. I scratched so much that it's now unreadable. FML

OP, I literally JUST had the same problem yesterday. All you need to do is call Itunes, and they will have you read them a smaller code at the bottom, and then they will restore the money for you.
