Today, I broke up with my girlfriend. She responded by sitting on the floor, crying like a baby and screaming "WHY?" at strangers. FML

Sometimes I like to roll up in a ball under my bed and act like a carrot.

Ah, the old "dump her in public so she won't make a scene" gambit! "They" don't tell you that when it fails, the outcome is a lot worse than the worst-case scenario of a private break-up. I hope some kind strangers were able to give her insight on her query.

At least he broke up with her face to face :l And, personally, I prefer to end it as they're on their way home. (Not like after a date or anything. Like, at school) That way they're on their way, they have a safe mode of transport, and a friend or two to keep an eye on them... I'm a horrible person

Next time don't break up with someone in public... I feel bad for you but at the same time you sorta deserved it. :(

Why did you break up with her in public dumbass......ydi.

Doesn't sound like you have much of a problem - Unless your intention was to break up with her and expect her to become your best friend. Let her deal with her grief her her and walk away. It's always nice to give whoever you're breaking up with a chance to ask questions or get their feelings out but when they start directing it in incoherent ways at other people it's time to make your leave.

Maybe that was her first breakup.. Id do that too. Lol

Why embarrass her by breaking up in public? Well, unless you thought she would freak out worse if you did it in private. Either way, she should respect herself enough to not shriek on the sidewalk. Everyone cries during a breakup, but not necessarily like that...

I imagine the poster is younger - As a teenager it's hard to break up at homes because if you do it at your home you're in the awkward position of having to find her a way back to her place [if she lives outside the neighborhood] and if you do it at her home you need to deal with her parents being nosy. I remember breaking up with my girlfriend years ago at her house and ending up having a real awkward conversation with her mom afterwards. It's very possible he picked something like a closeby park where people were around but he figured he could still have some privacy, who knows.
