hclagopus tells us more.
OP here. I did not try to pick her up - I am a 42 year old married father of three and even if I wanted a date I have enough knowledge of the world to know that hot twentysomething blondes prefer hot twentysomething hunks - but I did try to make her smile, and failed miserably. And my geek level is so low that I read paper papers and constantly need my twelve year old son to help with my Iphone. (Plus I`ve never seen the sequels) I realize the girl probably lacked humour more than Star Wars knowledge, but what the heck. My wife laughed her ass off when I told her, though, bless her.

Way to go - You just reinforced all the nerd stereotypes that I can think of!
Most girls aren't a fan of that genre of television, make sure next time she's not just sexy, but I nerd. :)
even if she did know that wouldnt be sexy.
Dear Pleonasm: While your takes on posts can be amusing AT TIMES, can you please limit to no more than two post. Also, what exactly is it you do that affords you so much time to do such comments!? From Wanky Dog
Even if she knew what a light saber was, why would you think she would find something like that 'charming'? If you want to charm a girl you should just tell her she's beautiful. Women aren't as complicated as you seem think they are.
It would have worked on me. "you're beautiful"-comments are waaaaaaay too boring!
Nice try, at least you have it some effort. But let me tell you, my wife; who is a sexy geek girl, didn't think it was charming either. She thought the Empire is attacking line was too much. Her suggestion, keep the Star Wars charm for girls who will appreciate it, and if you don't know assume they won't!
nice attempt at flirting... to each their own

Yeah because making star wars references tend to help with the ladies...
I find her lack of culture disturbing.
