hclagopus tells us more.
OP here. I did not try to pick her up - I am a 42 year old married father of three and even if I wanted a date I have enough knowledge of the world to know that hot twentysomething blondes prefer hot twentysomething hunks - but I did try to make her smile, and failed miserably. And my geek level is so low that I read paper papers and constantly need my twelve year old son to help with my Iphone. (Plus I`ve never seen the sequels) I realize the girl probably lacked humour more than Star Wars knowledge, but what the heck. My wife laughed her ass off when I told her, though, bless her.

That would totally have worked on me.
whether or not she had heard of Star Wars, it not usually a good pick up line topic. unless you're at a Star Wars convention
thats what you get for being a starwars fan, you nerd... and not the hipster kind either
Give me a real nerd over a 'hipster nerd' ANY day. Hipsters are the very definition of 'poser'... can a person get any more unattractive than that? Personally I prefer a person who's actually comfortable with himself and has a sense of humour. OP sounds a ****-load better than some dickwad who wears 3D glasses with the lenses pushed out. Why do people do that? Seriously, why? Ugh. Okay I'll stop ranting about posers now.
In what world would you think Star Wars is charming? Pffft.
That is not your fault bro!
If she's hot, you most likely won't be able to pick her up with a Star Wars one-liner. However, if she doesn't know Star Wars, and you can't pick her up, or make her laugh with your sense of humor, then she's not the right girl for you. All in all, it doesn't really sound like an FML, just you actin' a fool, which I do on a daily basis.
Oh honey. I'm sure she's heard of Star Wars - she just wasn't interested in you...with your lightsaber.
Clearly, she isn't worth your awesomeness. Then again, if you still managed to get a date with her, you could have introduced her to the geek culture.
Any girl who hasn't heard of Star Wars, isn't a girl worth dating.

Yeah because making star wars references tend to help with the ladies...
I find her lack of culture disturbing.
