Today, I called a suicide prevention hotline. The guy who picked up sounded drunk, told me to fuck off, and hung up. FML

Hi I posted this. Thanks for all the support!! I was in a really bad place when I posted this but I've been talking to a professional and got on medication and I'm really improving. All your comments really helped too. I didn't call the wrong number, I called back and asked someone else for a supervisor and he said he'd look into it. Never heard anything back from him though. I just hope the asshole that told me to **** off didn't drive anybody else over the edge :

I'm not going to even make a joke. OP, things might seem dark and grey now, but things will always get better. Trust me, I've been where you are at, and life gets brighter. Finding a support group that offers advice and genuinely cares is invaluable.

first thing I would like to say for all the people that are clicking the " you deserve it." button need to A) **** off and B) learn to have some compassion, because in no way did he deserve it. I hope whoever you are you didn't give up keep trying to get some help. I know first hand life isn't always the best but there is always something worth living for. I don't know who you are but my heart goes out to you. I lost a uncle to suicide a few years back and the pain is still like new so reach out to your family if they are there. we will listen he kept it bottled up and we found out when we found him. I will say a prayer for you today. try and keep your spirits high.

Heh. I tried to call one of those hotlines too, once. They hung up on me as well. I can't really take hotlines very seriously anyway, especially after that. At any rate, do stay strong, OP. It may take a while, but it does get better.

Wow, that is beyond awful. I'm so sorry, that's really one of the last things you need. Don't give up though, look up other resources that might be able to help. Talk to a friend or family member that you trust and get along with. Talk to strangers on the internet, I've done that... the internet can be very cold and cruel but there are some amazing people too. I've been there before, it's so difficult and it's hard to believe while you're going through what you are but it does get better. It takes time yes, but it does. It's wonderful that you tried to reach out for help, don't let some idiot stop you from continuing to do so. Keep reaching out, somebody will listen and try to help you, don't give up.
