Today, I called my mom from Australia. I have been abroad for two months and hadn't talked to her in a long time. A few minutes into the conversation my moms stops me and says this call must cost a fortune and hangs up on me. A few bucks in more important to her then me. FML

Weren't you calling her? She was just probably wanting you to save your money for the trip.

The last sentence just ruined this one for me. Quit crying. And it's "than" not "then".

lmaooo.. are you lynne kurelek... please say yes lol...

OMG, you guys are HORRIBLE! I talk to my parents every day. I'm away at school, but I still like to check in with them. So she missed her mother, what's wrong with that? I would NEVER go abroad for two months and not once call my parents. OP, your mother is a bitch.

you're totally getting the wrong idea here. a call from australia really DOES cost a fortune, and maybe she just doesnt have that much money to spend on a single call. At least she spoke to you for a few minutes, and now you can tell the rest through an e-mail. Stop trying to create problems where there arent any.

and # 47's right. she was probably worried about what it would cost YOU

maybe she didn't want to talk to you?

Your mother is cheap, but so is everyone else in this world. Use one of the tons of ways to talk to her free. Plus, I'm sure it wasn't just 'a few bucks.' Give us some rates if you want my sympathy.

well there is a recession through the world, right?
