Today, I called my very overprotective father, and he took the time to tell me how proud he was of me for finally finding a good and respectable boyfriend. And that he was sorry he misjudged. I was calling for bail money to get my "good, respectable" boyfriend out of jail. FML

I'm just wondering what he did to end up in jail in the first place.

Is this the second half of the story about the pair who were caught skinny-dipping by the daughters cop father?

If you're stupid enough to date a guy who would put himself in jail, then you need some "over protecting"....

Whatever your dad said, Im with him on this.

Never call your parents for bail money for someone else. Especially a boy/girlfriend. It only makes you look sad and pitiful.

Your father isn't overprotective if you're actually getting into the situations he's been trying to protect you from. YDI. And no, there is no reason he should or would pay for your boyfriend's mistake. Sounds like both you and your boyfriend have a lot of growing up to do.

It would only be ironic if he was caught robbing your dads house :-)

He could have been arrested for not moving at a sit-in while trying to support child abuse..=]

he probably bailed him out of jail... just to beat his ass

This is a hint, you have terrible taste in men. "Bad Boys" are just overgrown children, narcissists, or selfish assholes. They don't know better than everyone else. They aren't "good people caught up in the wrong crowd". They aren't "just misunderstood". You can't change them because they have based their identity on the very thing that has to change. Your dad is protective because a relationship with these guys can end one of two ways: he loses interest and leaves, or you leave him and he gets possessive. This is a rule, and his entire game is based around making you think that you are "the exception".

I can't believe this girl expected her father to bail her boyfriend out of jail.
