Today, I called my very overprotective father, and he took the time to tell me how proud he was of me for finally finding a good and respectable boyfriend. And that he was sorry he misjudged. I was calling for bail money to get my "good, respectable" boyfriend out of jail. FML

I'm just wondering what he did to end up in jail in the first place.

Is this the second half of the story about the pair who were caught skinny-dipping by the daughters cop father?

Well, really. Not to be rude or anything but I can see why he's so overprotective. It doesn't seem like you're capable enough of choosing the right kind of guy. YDI.

way to pick a winner. I'm sure he'll continue to be proud....I hope I don't have a daughter....

I would not if asked after that. And then they might not of going out.

Don't tell him your bailing your boyfriend out. As for a loan and say your behind on something's.make sure you pay him back and if you have a family with your bf maybe then you can come clean to your dad in time. I'd rather not rock the boat. Over-protective parents are really hard to deal with.

"Dad, I need some heroin money." Works every time!

Jail- not prison. They are two different jurisdictions. He could have been put in jail for something stupid, it doesn't automatically mean he's a terrible person or that OP is a terrible person for dating him. Her father isn't automatically going to be like ' I'LL NEVER TRUST YOU AGAIN.' because of that. I had to lie a lot when I lived with my parents because my parents were paranoid and over protective over everything. Sometimes it's better to let sleeping dogs lie then to wake the beast.

Nicely put! Kids think they know it all and their parents 'just don't get it'. But I always go back and find myself wishing I had taken my mom's advice. Especilly when it came to the guys I dated. No one here knows WHY her bf was arrested but if it was for anything like B&E, theft, DUI, things like that, OP should really consider rethinking this guy. Maybe dad's gut was right.

Your stupid for getting your dad to pay your temporary boyfriend out of jail !
