i can see both sides here. you should be splitting the cost of cable with your roomies at age 22. on the other hand, if money is an issue and your parents are being nice and helping you guys out thats fine but they shouldn't monitor what you watch. your not 5.
just because it is called a 'parental block' does not mean that 'parents' are the only ones who can set it. i think the fact that he is in college and lives with other college dudes is the most important fact of this anecdote. It is actually more likely that his college friends set the parental block on his favorite tv shows just to mess with him. I used to do this to my dad all the time as a joke. He loved watching the history channel so i put a parental block on it one day to mess with him. anyone can put a parental block on the cable box.
Im with number one. That seems bogus but if your parents are paying for your rent and the cable at your age then that is their decision. You want independence? Pay for everything yourself. You're 22. IF they dont pay for anything and you are the account holder (or your friends are) then there is no actual way for your parents to legally do that and this is a bogus post.
thaaaats why you pay for your own damn cable!
thomasl12 made me laugh, great idea there :D
#8 we don't know the gender of the writer.. ******* idiot
Isn't that illegal? Unless your parents pay your bills. Then you deserve it.

I don't see how your parents could do this, unless they own the cable account and pay your bill (at age 22)... so you deserve this.
Can't you just tell the company to remove the block? If you can't because your parents are paying the bill, then I suggest that you and your roommates start drumming up a little extra cash to pay for your own.
