Today, I came home and told my mom that I got the lead in the school musical, which I was very happy about. She pulled me into a hug then said, "But you know you can't really sing, right?" FML

Today, I told my mom that I want to try out for a singing competition on TV, so I might be able to kick off my musical career. She convinced me to sing a song for her, so I did. Mid-way through, she lost it, burst into laughter, and told me to stay in school. FML

Today, I was at work at a preschool. I was sitting outside with the kids and was getting bored so I started singing. One of the little girls runs up and puts her hand over my mouth and tells me to stop. I'm in a select chorus at my highschool and plan to major in choral studies in college. FML

Today, I was at my class's band concert. Before the curtain was raised, I helped haul the piano to a different spot so a girl who would've had to stand behind it could be seen. I said, "There, now your mom can see you play!" She responded with, "My mom's blind." FML

She's just being a bitch. I used to do plays and musicals in high school, and trust me they wouldn't have picked you for the lead if you were terrible.

It reminds me of Idols and x-factor and all those shows, where parents are always super supportive even though their children clearly can't sing and are going to make an ass out of themselves. I hope OP got selected for his/her skills, and not for the lack of others to play the role... If the latter's the case, I'd definitely want my mom to tell me the truth. Rather be embarrassed with her alone than in front of the entire school.
