Today, I came home and told my mom that I got the lead in the school musical, which I was very happy about. She pulled me into a hug then said, "But you know you can't really sing, right?" FML

She's just being a bitch. I used to do plays and musicals in high school, and trust me they wouldn't have picked you for the lead if you were terrible.

Just wait till everyone in the crowd is crying because you were such an amazing singer. Then on stage look at your mom and give her the finger. >:)

better finding out from your mom than an unsatisfied audience

Obviously you have talent if you got the lead. I never even got in the chorus in my high school musicals, but that's another story. Congrats though, and break a leg (not literally)!

Another parenting lesson from fml. Thank you

Don't listen to what she told you, that's not nice even if it is true

i think this means that you should sing louder and higher pitch, almost screechy like an owl, so your mom will realize how good you are when she's in the audience.

you see now..your mom is an ass go prove everyone wrong

Apparently she's wrong if you got a lead role....... Did everyone miss that small factor?

No, we didn't miss it. Lead doesn't mean good, just less terrible than the others, or the only ethnically or gender appropriate student for the role. In this age of every team at little league tournaments getting a trophy, the bar isn't set very high
