Today, I confided to my dad that since the recent breakup with my boyfriend of 3 months, I feel down all the time and life doesn't feel worth living anymore. His loving advice was for me to "grow the fuck up and get your sentimental head out of la-la land." FML

Today, I went to my father for advice. I've been seeing a wonderful girl for the past month, and I feel terrible about it, because I already have a girlfriend. He said "Kill yourself" and that if I "can't even do that right" then to get out of his house, because he disowns me. FML

Today, I was sitting in my room when my dad walked in to talk. He said I'm not the son he'd hoped for, and that he'd been let down as a father. He said I should change the way I am so that he could love me more. It was the longest conversation I've had with my dad in years. FML

I'm thinking the OP must be young... when you're well into adulthood, 3 months is barely enough time to build that essential foundation of a relationship... if you think life isn't worth living over a boyfriend that lasted 90 days?? get some help. you obviously don't have a healthy view when it comes to this stuff. in your favour, your dad could have used some better wording.
