Keep doing your thing op; freedom of speech. Disregard other's rights as well since all anyone cares about are their own rights and they will disregard your rights in return.

I hate that people smoke it's so stupid not only does it kill them it kills people around them

OP obviously shouldn't have dealt with it this way but all those saying 'it's outside so it doesn't matter and it's none of his business' obviously haven't had to sit near a smoker outside a cafe, or had someone smoking near the bus stop or even had to walk behind a smoker who happens to be walking the same route as you. It doesn't dissipate that quickly and it can be really awful. There's a newish advert in the UK which shows how much smoke cigarettes REALLY give off -that's what none smokers actually have to deal with when someone walks down the road with a cigarette.

You deserve it for being a dick who won't mind his own business. I presume you don't go over to fat people and say "Oh, looks like a heart attack over here!"
