the blood work is very minimal blood taken and it is to test to see if he has the chcicken pox antibodies if he has the antibodies that means he has immunity and will not catch it again however if someone around him had chicken pox he could still transfer it by touching another child but he would not get sick... he could also get shingles which is even worse then chicken pox is in the same fam as them and causes scarring pain itching and horrible for children.. look shingles up they are painful.. be informed before making a decision
What makes you think the chicken pox vaccination is dangerous?
'Merica! **** yeah! Shouldn't you be proud to have to pay for minor medical procedures and/or being a religious radical, because that's what being a patriotic, capitalist American is all about?
The school wanted you to do this, because if he has the virus, then he has the potential to spread it to the other kids whose parents thought the vaccine was too "dangerous." There is nothing dangerous in that shot. The only danger is parents who refuse to get their kids vaccinated, so that these childhood diseases are becoming a problem again. And yes, chickenpox will kill more adults than kids, but this is because a childhood chickenpox bout will become a deadly shingles problem as an adult. The more you know!~
Dude YDI. The school doesn't want your kid spreading disease. People can die from chicken pox (more common in older people) and even if they dont, it's gross as hell and causes people to miss class. I know OP's kid can't spread chicken pox (or chicken herpes, as I call it), but the school has no proof of that. They're following protocol and OP needs to quit bitching. If there's an outbreak, they'll probably look OP's kid and assume he's carrying it since you signed the religious waiver. Also, if he had just gotten the vaccine in the first place, he probably would've never contracted chicken herpes and this whole thing could've been avoided by showing the school a copy of his immunization records. What's with these anti-vaccination people? The risks are miniscule and there's no evidence that vaccines cause autism.
Seriously my mom said my school had to have proof too and she brought pictures in from when I had it. I had it from head to toe it was bad
its funny you think the shot is dangerous...
If they've already had the shot and it hasn't expired yet, would getting another one before the expiration be dangerous? That's the only reason I could think of for hesitation on getting a vaccination.
